What stump grinding does
Grinding is the most practical way to deal with stumps in residential yards.
- Removes the visible stump 6–12" below ground level
- Breaks wood into chips mixed with soil
- Manages visible surface roots
- Allows lawn repair, landscaping, or replanting nearby
- Minimal disruption — no heavy excavation needed
What it doesn't do: remove all underground roots (they decompose naturally) or guarantee zero regrowth from the remaining root system.
